5 Vegan Apple Recipes

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Apple-Recipes--1024x535.png

Apples were not part of my favorite fruits because as a child I just did not like it. I do not know why I had such negativity towards the red and most especially the green colored apples but I just don’t like it. However, there was one time I visited my friend’s place and her mother was making apple pie. I was hesitant when she offered me a slice because as I said, I don’t like the fruit.

On that fateful day, my opinion was reversed.

I think this was during my first year in college and as I said, a friend had me over her house. When I took the tiniest bite, I had one of the best eating experiences. It was as if my taste buds were bursting with each bite; my apprehension was thrown out of the window and I did not only eat one slice but two! Two slices of apple pie! Little by little, I began to eat the crunchy fruit, raw. I have learned to like how it would make squished noises when it is in my mouth and the sweetness of its natural juice whenever I take a bite.

Maybe you have a friend who was like me, someone who disliked apple. The 5 vegan apple recipes on the next page, might just be able to change his or her mind.

GLUTEN_FREE_VEGAN_APPLE_CRISP

Vegan Gluten Free Apple Crisp Recipe

This apple crisp is about as simple and basic as they come, and though it’s vegan and gluten free it’s just as delicious as any traditional version I’ve tried. Armed with non-dairy butter (Earth Balance, how I love thee), it’s totally dairy free. And thanks to almond meal, gluten free oats and a gluten free flour blend, it’s also void of the glutens. Good riddance, food allergies. Good riddance.

Italian Apple Cake

Italian Apple Cake

You know how every family or household has “the cake”? Well, this is the cake in my New York City apartment. In advance of any birthday or snowy day, my roommates will ask, “Are you mak- ing the cake?” We’re all obsessed with it. Everyone has her own copy of the recipe and makes it frequently. I have no doubt that if you try this cake once, it will become the cake in your house, too. If you’re feeling adventurous, try replacing one of the apples with a pear!

Deep-Dish Vegan Apple Pie Recipe

Extra-virgin coconut oil is a great substitute for butter in both the pie dough and the apple filling to make this all-American fruit pie vegan-friendly. We use a mix of apples for the filling: The Golden Delicious keep their shape and are a nice contrast to the soft McIntoshes, and the Granny Smiths give a nice tartness.

Apple_cake

Eggless Apple Cake

This apple cake recipe is adapted from my earlier apple upside down cake recipe. A simple and easy recipe where you just need to mix the ingredients with a spatula or spoon. No creaming, no using electric gadgets etc. The cake can also be made with peaches, plums, pineapples or even cherries. Just make sure that the fruit is sweet. or you can lightly cook the fruits in sugar syrup or macerate them in sugar. Pineapple, plums or peaches can give a sour and tart taste in this sweet cake, which may not go well with some folks.

Vegan Apple muffins

Vegan Apple Muffins Recipe

I got this recipe from a vegan cookbook. The first time I made them they were ok but not great. Than I made them again and made the apples a bit smaller and added 1/4 a cup more of sugar and they came out wonderful. Enjoy!
