Why I Replaced My Face Cleanser With Coconut Oil

Why I Replaced My Face Cleanser With Coconut Oil

When was the last time you had an important meeting or a date and you were not happy with your face? Maybe I’m the only one but I used to get break outs, dry patches, oily patches, and worse. At one point I had 18 different face cleaning products in my bathroom. I also used an ionic face cleaner.

vegan face cleanser

About 8 months ago my sister told me she had read that coconut oil could be used to clean skin, kill bacteria and moisturize. I didn’t pay too much attention to what she said because she also used to wash her hair in beer. Hey, beer may be a great shampoo. But I’ll never know because I am not doing that.

Two months go by and we are having a cookout at her house. The guys are tossing a ball around and we are just talking and enjoying a cocktail. I suddenly realized that her face and skin looked amazing. I mean it was so noticeable you couldn’t miss it. When I asked her about it and she told me it was because of coconut oil I decided to take her seriously. No one on the planet has worse skin than me and my face is always a struggle to maintain.

vegan face moisturizer

If you look in my bathroom today you will only seem some hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, make up, and feminine hygiene products. I replace all of those facial scrubs and creams with one thing. Coconut oil. It’s my facial scrub, it’s my moisturizer and it’s my breakout insurance. It really is that amazing. For me it has been life changing. I have a pretty simple but effective cleansing routine I use and I am happy to share it with you. Give it a try and let me know your results!

My coconut oil cleansing routine is on the next page.

Coconut Oil Face Cleansing

Face cleaning

For a gently face scrub I have never used anything as great as coconut oil. First I rinse my face with warm water several times. The I apply about 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil to my face and gently rub it in. After a couple of minutes I rinse with warm water. Then repeat one more time. The last rinse I use cold water.

This will cleanse regular grime and dirt away from your face and clean your pores.

Moisturizing/Breakout prevention

Coconut oil has amazing bacteria killing properties. I use it about 3 times a week to prevent pimples and other face issues. At night before you go to bed apply a thin layer of coconut oil all over your face. Let it sit for 5 minutes then rinse clean with cold water.

For face moisturizing I do this right before I apply my makeup every day. Take a dab of coconut oil and rub it into the skin. Continue to rub until it is all absorbed. If you can not get it to absorb you are using too much. Rinse your face clean and do it again with less.

Try this simple routine for a week and let me know how it works for you!

How To Transition from Vegetarian To Vegan In 3 Easy Steps

There is one question I get asked more than any other from fans of the facebook page. “How do I transition from vegetarian to vegan?” Luckily it’s an answer that I am somewhat qualified to answer because that is how I made my way to veganism.

Six years ago one of my best friends asked me to watch a video. We were having lunch, senior year of college, on my birthday. Becky, my friend, had made me a chocolate cupcake and instead of a candle on it, she had place the stem of a flower into it. It was a beautiful piece of food art that only Becky could create. About half way though eating that cupcake she showed me a video that changed my life forever. I had never seen animals being abused or slaughtered. It left a permanent mark on me and I went vegetarian the next day.

Fast forward to a little over a year and a half ago and I get a text from Becky. She is going vegan. She sent me a video showing how cows are forced to produce milk, have their calves ripped away from them over and over again, and finally when they can’t produce milk anymore they are killed. Once again Becky and her videos changed me. I decided to go vegan that day. I thought it would be pretty easy but I was wrong. I did make the move from vegetarian to vegan though and I learned a few things along the way.

There are basically three groups of things you have to let go of as a vegetarian. The first one is eggs. Next is milk and cream. And last is cheese. Looking back on my journey towards veganism I wish I had come up with a better plan. It would have saved me a lot of headaches and frustration. I know there are some vegan purist out there that say “Once you watch the animals being brutalized it should be easy to give up cheese. Just don’t eat it!” Ahh, if only it were that easy for everyone. But it isn’t. In the case of cheese, science has shown that it is actually addictive. So not only are you having to give up a food you love, you are likely addicted to it as well.

I have taken my personal experience of making the change from vegetarian to vegan, used the power of hindsight combined with all that I have learned as a vegan, and come up with a plan to help you make the switch. It’s best if you take it in stages. Stage one is milk and cream. Stage two is eggs. Stage three is the hardest for most people. That is when you will give up cheese.

If you are ready to take the leap and go vegan, my plan should make it easy for you. It all starts with stage one! Find out exactly how to do it on the next page.

Stage One: Giving up milk

This is by far the easiest of the three steps to becoming vegan. It’s really as simple as changing what you buy when you go grocery shopping. The only complicated part about it is choosing which non-dairy milk to buy. Other than that it is simple. Any place you would use milk as a vegetarian you simply replace it with non-dairy milk. One to one ratio. No conversions or tricks. One cup of milk is equal to one cup of non-dairy milk. So which milk will you like best? The guide below will help you.

Soy Milk

In my opinion soy milk is the closest to dairy of any option. It depends a lot on the brand of course. Some are better than others. The only rule I would have for deciding which brand to try is make sure it’s organic.

Almond Milk

Almond milk is my second recommendation. In fact it’s almost a toss up between soy or almond. The tricky thing about almond milk is the many flavors and options. You will see sweetened, unsweetened and vanilla flavored. Your goal should be to drink the unsweetened version. It will be the healthiest. But when making the transition you may find it easier to drink the sweetened or vanilla flavor. Between those two it’s just a matter of personal preference. You may have to try one of each. I personally would recommend sweetened.

For your first trip to the grocery store you should buy one of each. Get pints if they have them. If not then get a half gallon of each. The key is not to switch back and forth when you get them home. Pick one and only drink that one until it is gone. This will give you time to adjust to it and really know how much you like it. Once it is finished, move to the other type and use it until it is gone. When you are finished you should know which one you like best.

Other Non-Dairy Options

There are many other varieties for you to try. Coconut milk, hemp milk, cashew milk, and others. After you settle on one of the two options mention above, then you can start trying some of these as you go to see how you like them.

You can use soy milk or almond milk to drink straight, over cereal, in baking or to make smoothies and slushes. Anything you were using regular milk for you can substitute these.

Stage two is on the next page. Eggs. How do you give up eggs? I have a couple of really easy tips!

 Stage Two: Eggs

Unless you are a person who loves eggs for breakfast every single morning then you should be able to give them up very easily. The hardest part of not using eggs for most people is simply not knowing how to cook without them. In stage one you learned that any non-dairy milk will work in place of milk in recipes. And now you will learn how to replace eggs. But first let’s deal with the eggs for breakfast issue.

Having eggs for breakfast is like a tradition in America. Many people have them almost every morning. Scrambles, over easy, sunny side up, everyone has a favorite. But you can enjoy a nice egg substitute for breakfast that is really delicious. You really have two options here. You can give up the idea of eggs for breakfast completely, or you can find a good alternative. If you can just give them up that is easiest. You will need to find a new favorite breakfast though. I love smoothies and have them nearly every morning for breakfast, What is my favorite?

Breakfast smoothie

Put 3/4 cup of water, 2 bananas, 3 large medjool dates, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 4 or 5 shakes of cinnamon in a blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy! It is like liquid cinnamon rolls and it is delicious. As you make these you can tweak to your own taste. Want it sweeter? add more dates. Want more spice? up the cinnamon. Is it too think? Add more water. You get the idea.

Scrambled “Eggs” and Omelets

Tofu is amazing. It takes on the flavor of whatever you season it with. It’s texture is perfect for replacing meat, eggs and other things as well. Since you are vegetarian you are probably already familiar with tofu as a meat replacement. You can use it to make amazing scrambled ‘eggs’.  We have one of the best recipes ever for tofu scramble on our website. You can get it here: Tofu Scramble Recipe

You can also have a nice vegan omelet. Try this recipe: Vegan Omelet

Pancakes, French Toast Etc.

There a many different egg substitutes and each one is better for different kinds of recipes. For things like pancakes and french toast it is very easy. You simply replace the egg with a flax seed egg. All you need is flax seed you can grind into a powder, or just buy the flax powder. You then mix 3 parts water to 1 part flax powder. Using tablespoons makes one egg. After you mix it, let it stand for about 5 minutes and it will achieve an egg-like consistency. Then you use it in the place of egg to make that stack of pancakes!

Stage Three is on the next page. It is by far the hardest for most people. How do you give up cheese? I have some great tips! You can do it!

Stage Three: Cheese

I’m going to be honest with you. If I told you on the previous page how hard it is for most people to give up cheese…you probably wouldn’t have clicked through to this page. So I apologize for being tricky. But I know you can do it!

Many of you reading this will not like my advice for removing cheese from your diet. Please keep in mind that I am speaking from experience as well as many vegans I know. There really is only one way to give up cheese. It is the easiest by far.

Stop eating cheese

I know that sounds harsh. Cheese is addicting. Even the thought of it. I bet you have seen or heard about the many vegan cheese options on the market. Our most popular articles on this website are “cheese’ recipes. But I am doing you a favor right now by telling you to drop cheese and never look back. You need to be free from it. Stop eating anything that usually has cheese. Get it out of your system!

It will take you about 6 weeks to fully forget cheese. And this is if you stop it completely, cold turkey. If you keep slipping up or you eat cheese alternatives you may never break free from the power of cheese. This is one reason we do this process in stages. Make sure you are over drinking milk. Make sure that is not an issue. Then make sure you are over eggs. They should be completely in your past. Then you conquer cheese.

Six weeks. No cheese. You will live.

Want some good news? After 6 weeks you should be able to incorporate vegan ‘cheese’ dishes into your meals and not have a problem with them. The strong pull of cheese will be out of your system. Out of sight. Out of mind.

You CAN do this. Start with stage one. Master it. Move to stage two. Master it. Then tackle stage three…cheese.

After that it’s clear sailing. You will have to give up honey but that is really easy for most people. And there are so many tasty replacements. Agave, maple etc. And start buying your sugar organic. Organic sugar is vegan. So that’s another easy thing to fix.

Welcome to veganism! See, that wasn’t so hard :)  Photo: Kristian Niemi

Madison Square Garden Promises Vegan, Serves Meat!

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Steven-Patrick-Morrissey-300x253.png

According to the Gothamist, Madison Square Garden promised it would offer nothing but vegan food during a show this weekend. It turns out they was meat everywhere!

Morrissey (via MSG); Blondie (Barbara Sicuranza )

Recording artist Steven Patrick Morrissey was set to perform at MSG over the weekend and had been assured by the management the entire place would be vegan for the night. It is unclear if this was the only conditions under which he would perform or not, but since it was part of the agreement we can assume it was.

Eating a slider while on stage Morrissey is singing meat is murder

Eating a slider while on stage Morrissey is singing meat is murder

Concert goers started posting photos from the box seats today showing all kinds of meat being served. In fact at one point in the show Moz was singing how meat was murder while a Peta video played in the background. Little did he know that in the sky boxes, chicken fingers, sliders, pork and all kinds of meat was being sold.

You can get the entire story and see more pictures at the Gothamist.

Ultimate Vegan Tacos

Even before I went vegan I loved Mexican dishes. Of course most Mexican food at restaurants has been highly Americanized and only resembles the authentic dish. These vegan tacos are based on one of those meals.

I think what makes this recipe for this popular meal so delicious is the creative blend of spices, generous cruciferous greens and the avocado. Who doesn’t love avocado! By getting creative with what would traditionally be the taco shell, you not only add more nutrition to the meal, you also add a nice fresh crispy crunch.

5 Reasons Vegans Are Better Than You

I didn’t go vegan for ethical reasons. It was a great side effect though. I went vegan because I thought it would be an easy way to lose weight. After I started losing weight, feeling better and exercising more, I experienced other changes.

One of them was that I did become an ethical vegan. You can’t stay in this lifestyle for very long without the ethical treatment of animals affecting you. The more I studied the vegan lifestyle for my life, my diet and my website, the more I learned. In fact I now think that is is the very best thing that happened to me as a result of going vegan. And I think it’s the one thing every vegan agrees on. So I didn’t include that in my list of reasons vegans are better than you.

Vegans are better in every area of life. No kidding. People say that vegans are arrogant. I guess after they read my list of reasons that vegans are better than them, they will really hate me. It’s all in good fun, but it is true. Number one is my absolute favorite reason I’m better as a vegan. Find out what it is on the next page.

1. Better Sex Life

Eating meat with all of it’s fat, cholesterol and artery clogging properties reduces blood flow. Why do you think that 40% of all men over the age of 40 suffer from erectile dysfunction? When you go vegan your arteries start clearing right away. Blood flow gets stronger. Better blood flow means better sexual function and sensation. Vegans generally have more energy as well which leads to better times in the bedroom. You can also add increased libido and better lubrication to the list. Learn more about these things here.

On the next page, my 2nd favorite reason I’m vegan.

2. Vegans Smell Better

The longer I was vegan the more I noticed I didn’t need deodorant as much. Of course this varies from day to day, but overall I smell a lot better. This isn’t just in my head either. A study at Charles University in 2006 showed that armpit odor of meat eaters was worse than that of vegetarians. This involved real people smelling other peoples armpits. Boy am I glad I wasn’t in that study group! But having less body odor is definitely one reason vegans are better.

On the next page, something everyone will see immediately if you are vegan

3. Better Skin

The increased phytonutrients and daily water consumption has an enormous positive effect on the skin. In fact there are several vegan foods you can eat specifically for less wrinkles and glowing skin. Find out what they are here. The higher intake of vitamin C in vegans leads to better collagen metabolism, skin elasticity and overall better looking skin. Check out this 79 year old vegan. Her skin is flawless!

On the next page, the thing everyone is obsessed about

4. Weight Loss

If you adopt a plant based whole food diet you will lose weight. (learn more here) I know there are a lot of vegans out there who are overweight and not losing. This is completely possible. There are just as many unhealthy vegan junk foods as there are in the standard diet. Many vegans rely on these fake meats, cheeses and other fattening vegan foods which is great for the animals but not for their waistlines. But the easiest way to weight loss has been proven to be a whole foods vegan diet. I have never been happier with my body than I am right now!

The reason vegans are better and changing the entire world is on the next page

5. Saving the Planet

Vegans save animals. This is without question. But what many people don’t realize is the impact you have on the environment when you go vegan. Less deforestation, less water consumption, less wasted land for raising animals, less polluting factories, and the list goes on. When you go vegan you add a little more natural order to the world. You help make the world a healthier place for others as well as yourself. See, vegans really are better :)

A small half-cup serving of basic vanilla will run you 250 calories and cost you 17 grams of fat and 85 milligrams of cholesterol. You can satisfy the need to spoon up something frozen and sweet by making this recipe for a dairy-free ice cream that only contains two ingredients. Don’t worry — no ice cream maker is required, just your freezer and a good blender.

Vegan Home Remedies For Acne

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Home-Remedies-For-Acne-1024x535.png

Our self-esteem is wrapped up in a lot of things, but one of the most prevalent is our complexion. How we look from our clothes to our face assist in our feeling good about ourselves. Unfortunately, at some point in life, most people will suffer from acne. Acne can be debilitating for anyone who suffers from it. One pimple can make a person feel bad about their appearance and cause them to hide out until it disappears. There are many reasons for acne outbreaks but only a few acne treatments that can help keep acne at bay. These commercial acne treatments are full of potentially dangerous chemicals, very expensive, and ineffective for many people.

What is Acne

Acne is the number one skin condition in America. It generally affects teenagers, however, there is a growing epidemic of middle age acne suffers. Acne occurs when the oil glands, by way of the follicles, get clogged up. The oil gland produces sebum, an oil substance that carries dead skin to the surface of the skin through the pores. Normally, dry, dead skin gets pushed up to the surface of the pore and falls off. However, in the case of acne, dead skin gets caught by an oil build up in the pore causing the pore to clog. The skin then reacts by swelling. There are several types of acne. Each condition looks differently, but have the same effect on the skin and their sufferer. Depending on the type of acne, a suffer can experience pain and discomfort along with depression.

What Causes Acne

Doctors have not narrowed down the cause of acne to one single thing. Acne can be caused by changes in hormones. Teenagers suffer most from acne because of the dramatic hormonal changes in the body during teenage years. Some pregnant women also suffer from acne due to hormonal changes. Greasy makeup and hair can also contribute to an acne outbreak. Women who start and/or stop taking birth control pills may find that they will have an acne infection. Some medications have also been shown to contribute to acne. Another way to possibly predict whether or not you will suffer from acne is to look into whether your parents suffered from it. Acne can sometimes be hereditary.

what causes acne

Acne Scars

Though acne is not a life threatening disease, it can have a long lasting effect on the suffer. Acne scars develop when inflammation occurs. The greater the inflammation, the greater the chance of scarring. Untreated acne can cause permanent scarring. It is important to see a dermatologist to consult with them on which treatment is appropriate for your particular acne outbreak. Acne scars are dark in color and can cause dark spots all over the infected area.

Acne is an uncomfortable condition for everyone who suffers from it. It can be embarrassing and ego damaging. Keeping your skin clean with a gentle cleanser, making an effort to not touch the infected area and diligence can help to prevent continuous outbreaks of acne. It is important to address an acne outbreak immediately. Waiting out an infection can only cause the condition to get worse. Even more important is preventing it in the first place.

Home Remedies For Acne

A quick internet search will reveal thousands of questionable acne treatments. Acne home remedies can be effective for most people provided they use those that have been proven over time. It’s hard to evaluate which methods work and which ones are just a waste of time. Natural Remedies For Acne have been around since recorded history and some of them are surprisingly effective. Others are just ‘old wives tales’ someone heard from their grandma that don’t work. Most vegans know that food can be medicine and that is where our search for a home treatment that works should begin.

How To Get Rid Of Acne

This is a question that has tormented nearly every teenager in the world during the modern era. There has also been a trend in recent years for more and more adults to have serious problems with acne as well. A home based acne treatment will include all aspect of health and disease prevention. These include diet, hygiene and physical activity. We have compiled the most well regard methods that have been shown to work and put them all together in one single article. You can use all of them or only the ones that look promising to you. We can say they do work best when all of them are combined.

Get this comprehensive of vegan home remedies for acne by click next page below.

For the most effective home treatment of acne you will need to combine tradition proven steps along with proper diet.

1. Wash your face at least twice a day. This will always be the number one thing anyone can do to prevent acne outbreaks.

2. Never squeeze or pop pimples. This leads to further infections and can cause scarring.

3. Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

Wash your face with water as normal and dry. Use a mixture of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and apply it to the affected area with a cotton ball. Allow it to set at least 10 minutes. If you are doing this at night you can leave it while you sleep. Be sure to wash it away afterwards with water. Vinegar helps kill bacteria, clear up oil, and keep the pH balance of the skin correct.

4. Fresh raw papaya.

Use a fork and bowl to smash up the soft flesh of the papaya until it has a consistency where you can apply it to your face. Wash your face with water and pat dry. Apply the papaya and let it set on the face for 15 minutes. Rinse with water afterwards. Papaya removes fatty oils from the skin and reduces inflammation.

5. Tea Tree Oil.

Dilute the tee tree oil with aloe vera gel (you can also use water). Use 9 parts aloe vera gel for 1 part tea tree oil. Never use tea tree oil full strength. Apply it to your face using a Q-Tip. Tea Tree oil is used for many skin conditions on the face like rosacea and has been very effective for acne as well.

These treatments were taken from a resource that also includes non-vegan solutions. You can check it out here at Every Day Roots.

If you buy bottled water then you need to check to see if your brand has been recalled. Niagara Bottling revealed that one of their springs was contaminated with E.Coli and before they could catch it, many bottles of water were shipped.

Niagara Bottling supplies bottled water for many different brands. Basically it’s the exact same water, the bottles have different labels on them. In total, 14 brands of water have been recalled with a serious warning to anyone that has any water that is by one of these brands.

E.Coli is very serious and can cause symptoms ranging from mild to serious. Some of them include headache, nausea, cramps, diarrhea, vomiting or others.

If you have any of these brands of water you are encouraged to either pour it out so no one can accidentally drink it, or boil it before you drink it. If you choose to boil the water you should make sure you boil it for at least 1 minutes and then allowed to cool.

Below is the list of contaminated brands.

Processed Vegan Snacks - Good Or Bad For Veganism?

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/vegan-snacks-1024x535.png

A little over a decade ago, vegans were a rare things and it was almost impossible to come across vegan foods at the grocery store. Today, the vegetarian movement has grown considerably, and depending on which poll you consult, as high as 6 percent or more of the American population is vegan. It is no wonder then that big food brands have stepped in to benefit from the rising vegetarian demographic. Today, if you take a stroll in your local supermarket, you will see a wide variety of vegan processed foods. Things like vegan turkey, ham, sour cream, butter, and cheese were unheard of just a decade ago. Now they are in nearly every supermarket.

easy vegan snacks

Healthy Vegan Snacks Vs Processed Foods

Going vegan is certainly a noble idea, but the decision doesn’t always come easy for many. Fortunately, vegan snack foods have made the transition to this lifestyle easier. Huge food brands have done an excellent job of changing the public’s negative perception on vegan protein sources such as soy. They have played up their mock meats as low-fat, great sources of proteins. They hail soy protein for its many benefits and recommend it for a variety of conditions from menopause to diabetes. While we cannot deny the few benefits of these foods, we are smart to realize that they do not necessarily make life healthier. The question many in the vegan movement have is if they are good or bad as a whole. While these processed vegan foods and snacks are necessarily healthy they do make it a lot easier for the average person to go vegan. Where even a decade ago it seemed like a daunting task, today it can be done nearly painlessly for even the most weak willed person. Sure this is helping more people go vegan. And that is saving millions of animals. But what is it do to us?

Easy Vegan Snacks : The Consequences

Mock meats and other vegan snack foods have one thing in common with other processed foods – they are all PROCESSED. In fact, the same big brands that are behind the easy vegan snacks are usually the same brands associated with popular junk foods. Like all processed foods, most processed vegan offerings contain considerably high levels of sodium and are low in essential nutrients and fiber. Another downside of faux meats is that they are bad for the environment, and protecting our environment is one of the major reasons many people go vegan. According to recent studies on the environmental impact of packaged foods, researchers found that processing mock meat not only uses more energy than processing real meats, but also has worse side-effects.

Furthermore, faux meats remind vegetarians and vegans of what they are missing. Each slice of tofurkey or mock roast you bite is in essence saying, “haha, you wish you could be having the real thing but instead you have me!” Certainly, there are a couple of vegans and vegetarians out there who genuinely prefer the flavour of these mock meats over the real thing, but for most of us, it proves difficult to get accustomed to. Many in the vegan movement argue that it just simpler to go with organic whole foods from the beginning. It’s certainly healthier.

We got the opinion of three popular vegan voices on youtube to share their thoughts. Why did they say?

Vegan Snack Foods, good or bad?

In general, processed foods cannot be described as “healthy”. It is the overwhelming feeling among the vegetarian community that processed vegan foods are not as healthy as they claim. There are various great processed foods rich in proteins that vegans can enjoy such as tofu and tempeh. In fact, these foods are used around the globe in ancient cuisines. Vegans and Vegetarians really need to consider the quality of the food they eat. Your best bet when shopping around is buying organic whole foods. Even when vegan processed foods are not made with additives or harmful products, they can never compare to fresh, organic foods.

Take The Challenge

Take the 7 day challenge and don’t eat any processed foods. Make your meals from fresh organic fruits, vegetable and legumes. Eat nuts and seed in very limited quantities. I’m better you will have more energy and clarity at the end of the seven days. It’s amazing what removing processed foods from our diets can do. Will you take the challenge? If you gave up processed vegan foods for fresh organic whole foods, please leave a comment and share your experience. Your story might be the one that inspires someone to change!

Ultimate Vegan Nachos w/ Secret Vegan Cheese Sauce

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/vegan-nachos-vegan-cheese-sauce-1024x535.png

I am having a lot of friends over this weekend and I will be making my Ultimate Vegan Nachos with my Secret Vegan Cheese Sauce.

Vegan Tortilla Chips

This is actually the easy part of the recipe. There are several vegan brands you can buy right off the grocery store shelf. My two favorites are Santitas and Mission brands. You can also get creative and use Fritos. There are other vegan options but these are the ones I ususally use. You can also make your own. A good recipe for vegan tortilla chips is here.

vegan nacho tortilla chips

What really makes a plate of nachos come alive is toppings. We will get to the cheese below. But feel free to add back beans, avocado, tomato, cilantro, onion, olives, jalapenos, and any other toppings that sound delicious to you!

Vegan Nachos Cheese Recipe

The real secret to making vegan nachos is having the right cheese sauce. Several months ago we posted this vegan cheese sauce recipe and it blew up the internet. So feel free to check it out. It is pretty amazing. But…

For the first time every I am going to share my personal vegan cheese sauce recipe. It is the one I have been using for about a year. I came up with it just experimenting in the kitchen with my sister. I have a couple of vegan nacho cheese products I ordered online and I have made other peoples recipes. But in my opinion none of them come close to my recipe if your making nachos.

Get my secret vegan cheese sauce recipe on the next page below.

Secret Vegan Cheese Sauce

1/4 cups nutritional yeast flakes (you can use more to taste)

1 cup butter beans

1/2 clove garlic

1 teaspoon salt (I prefer Himalayan) you can do more to taste

3 tablespoons melted coconut oil

1 tablespoon tahini

1 to 2 tablespoons almond milk

Instructions

Put all ingredients into a blender

Start blending on slow speed. Slowly increase speed until mixture is smooth

You can adjust the taste and add more salt or garlic if necessary

If the mixture is too thick, add some almond milk.

If the mixture is too think add butter beans and nutritional yeast.

Note: This is a recipe that you will have to play around with to get it exactly like you want it. My sister makes it different than I do. She uses more garlic and more nutritional yeast. So have fun with it. When you get it exactly right it is so worth it!

5 Creative Vegan Recipes For Dinner

http://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Vegan-Dinner-Recipes-1024x535.png

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only person that thinks like I do. I need more vegan recipes for dinner.

Please tell me I’m not alone. I can’t be the only one that gets bored preparing the same meals. I do my best to have a nice variety of dishes to prepare and I make some really great food. But some days I look in the fridge and think “wow, I really want something new!”

I spent an afternoon looking for some unique vegan recipes last week so I could add some new meals to my dinner menu. I wanted some new twists on tradition dishes. I also wanted some new ideas to really shake up dinner at our house. I came up with five really interesting recipes to add to my dinner variety.

I managed to get a variety ranging from a really hearty sandwich (or Po’ Boy) to a really delicious soup! If you are looking for some new vegan recipes to add some variety to your dinner meal plans maybe you will enjoy these. You can check out all five recipes starting on the next page.

Grilled Buffalo Tofu Po’ Boy with Apple Slaw [Vegan]

Grilled Buffalo Tofu Po’ Boy with Apple Slaw [Vegan]

These days, you can find almost anything served with buffalo sauce – which is a mixture of butter and hot sauce. The traditional Buffalo Sandwich is breaded, deep-fried, and smothered in the fatty condiment.

I’ve lightened up the typical buffalo sandwich by featuring a grilled, marinated tofu and making the sandwich into a po’ boy by adding a creamy slaw. The cabbage and apples in the slaw add crunch, the vegan mayo adds creaminess, and the vinegar gives it some needed acidity. This is a simple and easy to make, no fuss sandwich with all the authentic buffalo flavors.

Vegan Avocado Ice Cream Recipes

Have you ever tried avocado ice cream? Even with my love of avocado it never occured to me you could make ice cream with it!

One thing that is missing from a whole food diet is much fat. If course fat is one of the things that makes ice cream so delicious! I have enjoy banana based ‘ice cream’ recipes for years and I really enjoy them. They are very sweet and healthy. But they are missing that one thing that makes ice cream sinful and savory. Fat! When using an avocado for the vegan ice cream you get some of that fat. But it’s the good healthy fat.

A vegan avocado ice cream is, obviously dairy free, but also creamy and will still make you eat one spoonful after another. In fact you can serve it confidently to your omnivore friends and they will love it! I have assembled 6 different vegan avocado ice cream recipes for you to try. Pick the one you like best and enjoy. They begin on the next page.

Avocado Ice Cream

It’s super creamy and decadent. Also it’s not too sweet, so you still can taste the avocado. If you want it sweeter, just add more Rice Syrup or whatever sweetener you prefer. You can adjust it to taste easily. Also the best part is that you don’t need an ice cream machine to make this treat.

Vegan Coconut Avocado Ice Cream

If you had told me just a few months ago that vegan ice cream would be something I’d actually want to eat, I would have turned my back on you and stalked off. For me, ice cream is all about the…cream. The fatty dairy that captures air and forms tiny little ice crystals when churned. Using avocado in this recipe gives you that rich creamy fatty texture.
