Vegan Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/vegan-pumpkin-chocolate-chip-cookies-recipe-1024x535.png

It’s not just a coincidence that you are seeing a lot of pumpkin recipes right now. I Live for fall and it’s many flavors. These vegan pumpkin chocolate chips cookies are a perfect example. There are so many ways to use pumpkin and they are all delicious. And if it’s not fall when you are reading this, it’s ok. Pumpkin is good any time of year.

I love vegan dessert recipes that have ten ingredients or less. Anything that you can spend minimal time preparing and maximum time eating is my kind of food. The pumpkin, brown sugar, vanilla and chocolate flavors in the cookies is just perfect. This recipe uses large chunks and I admit that’s my favorite. You can make it your own though, any way you like.

Avocados are a wonder food. So delicious and full of nutrients and healthy fats. The only thing better that avocados? These stuffed avocados!

The great thing about this recipe is that it like all other ‘stuffed recipes’ it is versatile. You can take the basic recipe and it will be delicious but you can also make it your own creation. Keep the ingredients you like, dump the ones you don’t and then add something you really like. For an example you can use hummus or tahini in the recipe. I prefer hummus so that is what I use. But it’s totally up to you. And these stuffed avocados are great compliments to any dish or meal.

One of our top requested recipes for this website involve cheese. Vegan Mac And Cheese is a favorite of nearly everyone. I think it’s a throwback to childhood for many. For others it’s just that creamy cheesy pasta goodness.

This vegan mac & cheese recipe has a healthy twist to it. In addition to the creamy cheesy flavor and pasta you get something extra. In every bit you will get just the right amount of broccoli and peas. There are also two large carrots in the vegan cheese sauce making this the healthiest Mac and Cheese dish ever.

First of all, how can you have vegan ice cream that taste this amazing? I have had many good vegan ice cream products before but nothing like this. And then there is the question of how do you get the unbelievable vegan ice cream inside the unbelievable vegan brownie and manage to put it all on a stick. My vegan mind is blown. My taste buds are doing the happy dance. This is a dessert you would make once or twice a year in my opinion. Your mouth and eyes will be telling you to make it every week! But listen to your mind. Shocking Study: Meatless Hotdogs Contain Meat - Human DNA

Shocking Study: Meatless Hotdogs Contain Meat - Human DNA

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/vegan-hot-dogs-contain-meat-1024x535.png

I’ll admit I don’t really go for the meatless hot dogs too much. The main reason is vegan hot dogs just aren’t very tasty. I’ve tried all of the major vegetarian vegan hot dog brands and found you have to dress them up a lot to make them edible. But I never imagined it was much much worse than just their taste!

Clear food just completed a study of hot dogs and sausages. They included vegan and vegetarian brands in their study. Some of the results are disturbing and shocking. Human DNA in hot dogs? I don’t know ANYONE who wants to eat another humans flesh. And the most disturbing of all is that about 10% of meatless hot dogs, like vegan and vegetarian brands, had meat in them. Mainly chicken.

There is some good news though. They found some high quality brands putting out top notch products too. So there is a silver lining. You can see the full details about the report and their brand findings on the next page.

The good news for vegans is that some brands scored really high. They actually gave their top marks to Trader Joe brands. The meatless brand that got their highest marks was Trader Joe’s Soy Chorizo ($1.99) they found that the nutritional information was more accurate than most of the vegetarian products tested. They also found the Trader Joe’s Meatless Corn Dogs, ($2.99) to be right on target.

As far as their list of specialty hot dog brands, Gardein was the big winner scoring a 95 (highest score of any brand) on their test. I’ll be honest here, I’ve never seen Gardein hot dogs before so I’m interested to know where you can get them and what they taste like. If you know please leave a comment!

You can see the complete scores and read about the brand with meat and human DNA in them on the Clear Food website by clicking here.

Portobello Mini Pizza - Gluten Free - Vegan

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Portobello-Pizza-Vegan-Gluten-Free-1024x535.png

Pizza. It’s a word that instantly makes most people hungry. It’s based on the taste and flavors of Italy but the pizza is most definitely an American obsession. Even vegans love it. We just like our pizza without the meat and cheese please. These cute and delicious pizzas also make the gluten free crowd happy. It’s a win for pizza lovers everywhere!

These personal pizzas are so cute. The perfect size for one person. And you can feel free to top them with any toppings you choose. I personally lie fresh tomato and spinach with a little onion in there as well. But you can go further if you like. The vegan cheese sauce is the perfect touch to make these things irresistible. They are great appetizers and perfect for parties. Or you can do what I like to do and eat them with a nice large salad for a complete meal. It’s really up to you.

Find out how to make them on the next page.

I can’t over how cute these little pizzas are. Perfect little delicious gifts from nature on a nice portobello mushroom cap. Yum! Some people get a little mushroom as a topping. Nah, let’s make it the whole base of the pizza!

Make Almond Milk In 3 Minutes. No fuss, No straining, No Problem!

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Home-Made-Almond-Milk-In-3-minutes-1024x535.png

When I started drinking vegan milks like almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, cashew milk and others I discovered I liked them better than cows milk. It was one of the easiest parts of going vegan. No problem. But you have to be careful when buying almond milk from the store. Some brands have things like gums, lecithins, or carrageenan in them. Yuck!

It’s pretty easy to make almond or cashew milk with your vitamix and a straining bag. But it’s messy and very time consuming. Frankly it’s a lot of work just to make a quart or half gallon of almond milk that will go bad in 3 days in your fridge. But I still do it. And then I found this amazing recipe. A way to make almond milk in just 3 minutes. It’s so fast and easy you can just make it a glass at a time whenever you want some. Always fresh made and ready to go!

This blew my mind when I found out how to do it. Get the instructions on the next page.

I have to tell you it was some work to track this recipe down. I originally found a link on a vegan Facebook page for how to make almond milk from almond butter in minutes. But it was a really old Facebook link and the site was no longer there. But the photo they used had the name of a blog on it. So I searched that blog. But it was no longer online. Ugh!

almond milk from butter

Then I searched for ways to make almond milk and found a lot of articles and recipes on how to do it the long messy way like I already do. So I kept scrolling and finally, eureka! I found it.

So I’m sharing it with everyone I know. Thanks to a blog called Gluten Free Easily we can all learn this method. You can get the method on their blog by clicking here.

Vegan Chocolate Mousse Cake - No Bake!

Other than people with allergies to it, I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love chocolate. For vegans this can be tricky because most of it isn’t vegan. But this chocolate mousse cake is! And it’s super easy to make. No baking needed! This may be the world’s most perfect vegan dessert recipe.

Seriously, this recipe is just incredible. Not only do you get your chocolate fix you get a mousse cake that has a rich, creamy, silky texture to it. And the recipe is adjustable so you can make a low fat version if you like, or you can pump up the fat for a truly rich sinful dessert any vegan could binge out on respectably. The best part of all is that this recipe only has 8 ingredients and there is no baking involved. I don’t care how bad your kitchen sills are you can make this delicious chocolate mousse cake.

Embrace the miracle of tofu and you will be a happy vegan! These 6 vegan tofu recipes should be in your book of favorites.

It really is a remarkable food when you cook it right.

Crispy Zucchini Chips

Nearly everything that has chip in the name is good. Tortilla chips, potato chips, pita chips, kale chips, and even Zucchini Chips! My sister cooked these for me last weekend while we were hanging out watching “Haven” on Netflix. (I LOVE THAT SHOW!)

At first I thought I was just eating home made potato chips that looked a little funny. But I asked and she told me they were indeed zucchini chips. I’m a huge fan of kale chips but I am just too lazy to make them most of the time. I’d rather throw my kale in a salad and be done with it! But I’m thinking I will start making time to make this recipe occasionally. When I tell you I was surprised how good they were I am being serious.

It’s a simple recipe to try and you have nothing to lose. Learn how to make Zucchini Chips on the next page.

I made a promise two weeks ago that I would stop eating so much vegan Mexican food. Promise. Broken. These vegan taco fries are just too hard to resist. They combine all of the unhealthy foods that I love all into one dish. Tacos, Nachos, Fries, Cheese. Have mercy.

The upside is that this dish is infinitely more healthy for you than some nachos from Taco Bell. You can indulge in this incredible dish nearly guilt free. The refried beans, diced tomatoes and diced onions get things started and it only gets better from there. You add one of the most incredible vegan cheese sauces I’ve ever tasted with some perfectly cooked fries and begin approaching taco nacho fry heaven!

Pumpkin Punch Chai Breakfast Smoothie

Every fall I start dreaming up new ways of eating pumpkin. It doesn’t seem right to let such an awesome vegan fall staple go to waste. This recipe takes my pumpkin obsession to new heights. You combine that with some thick irresistible chocolate and a vegan marshmallow and these things are divine.

3 Preposterous Lies About Cows Milk

Hey Vegans! It's time to share this. Expose your friends and family to the truth about milk! For their health. http://bit.ly/1kbfX4R

3 Preposterous Lies About Cows Milk

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/lies-about-milk-and-dairy-vegan-1024x535.png

Some days I think to myself “If I see another milk commercial today I am going to scream!” Just trying to comprehend how much money the dairy industry has for their propaganda commercials is mind blowing. According to one source the dairy industry spends about $180 million every year spreading it’s misinformation about how much you need cows milk.

I am writing this article for two kinds of people. Those who still drink milk and are not aware of how bad it is for them and the horrors the cows face, and those who actually defend the dairy industry and it’s hype on health.

What can you do?

You can share this article. Hopefully the headline will make even the most die hard milk drinker curious. I know it can be hard to talk to friends and family about their health and the damage of things like cows milk. But if you can pique their interest with a headline or graphic they may accidentally find the truth on their own. And let’s hope they do! Their lives and health depend on it. And so do the cows.

If you clicked here because of the headline, don’t close your eyes and leave. Click to the next page and learn the truth about cows milk.

Let’s start with the most well known and widely spread claim of the dairy industry and examine it first.

You need milk for calcium and strong healthy bones

WRONG! You do not need cows milk to get calcium. In fact, the modest amount of calcium in milk isn’t even absorbed very well by the human body. Consider this study by Harvard University that not only suggest plant based calcium should be considered, but also points out the many health risks of drinking milk. Some of the disease caused by milk that are specifically mention in this study are increased risk of ovarian cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.

How about your bones? Consider this article on WebMD that shows that calcium is actually leached FROM your bones when you drink milk resulting in a net loss of calcium. If strong bones is what you are wanting then NOT drinking cows milk should be your first step to getting the desired result.

If learning all of these claims by the dairy industry are dubious at best is surprising to you, we’re not done. Click to the next page and we will crush another preposterous lie about milk.

The lie that makes me more mad than any other is that the cows are actually healthier because we milk them.

We are doing the cows a favor by drinking their milk

WRONG! A dairy cows life is one of misery and torture. They are constantly pregnant by artificial insemination. You’d be surprised how many people don’t know you have to keep impregnating cows to keep getting milk. They think dairy cows just produce milk all the time naturally.

Once the cow gives birth the calf is immediately ripped away from it’s mom and take off the be slaughtered for veal in most cases. Meanwhile the mother is forced to stand in a stall barely wider than her body, hooked up to pumps all day to drain her of her milk. When she stops producing the is impregnated again and the cycle repeats.

If you really think we are doing the cows a favor consider this. Not only is the life of that cow a miserable one, it’s life span will on be about 4 or 5 years. Does that seem like a long life to you? In case you do not know, the life of an average cow not enslaved by the dairy industry is 15 to 20 years.

I congratulate you on making it this far. Don’t sell yourself short and stop before you click to the next page where we dispel the biggest lie of all.

This lie is one that has taken many decades to spread and billions of dollars in advertising to deliver.

Cows Milk is for Humans

WRONG! Cows milk is for cows.

Why would any species intentionally drink the milk of another species? Humans are the only ones that do it. It’s unnatural. It’s a bit creepy. And as we have already shown it certainly isn’t healthy. Why would you drink a substance that is designed to help a baby animal grow to 800 pounds in just a few months? How that can seem like a good idea just blows my mind. And people wonder why the world is getting fatter by the year.

If you are just now learning about these lies of the dairy industry and want to learn about other ‘milk’ alternatives you can check out our article on them. There are so many healthier and delicious choices to pour over your cereal or drink with your cookies. Learn more about vegan milk options here.

10 Ways To Save Money And Eat Great As A Vegan

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/save-money-vegan-frugal-tips-1024x535.png

How many times has someone told you they would try going vegan but it was too expensive. Or how many times have you wished you could save some money and make the vegan lifestyle more affordable? Saving money on vegan food has a lot to do with how you prepare and how you shop. While it’s not hard or complicated it does require a little bit of knowledge and planning.

Nava at the Veg Kitchen is really a genius in this area and has some great tips to make you a money saving vegan ninja! Everyone will find several of these ideas really helpful. Many will find ALL of these ideas really helpful. The fact is, there are some great delicious and highly nutritious vegan foods out there and they are affordable if you know how to shop.

Are you ready to keep your kitchen stocked with the very best and save some money? Then click to the next page!

Money Saving Tip #1

Keep a weekly menu and stick to a shopping list

This does take a little spontaneity and fun out of your grocery trips, but it can also take a big bite out of your weekly food bill and the amount of time you spend shopping in one fell swoop. This tip offers more bang for the buck than any of the others, in my opinion. Making a weekly menu and shopping list is really not that great a hardship: set aside an hour or so once a week (Sunday is my day), grab a bunch of cookbooks or look at recipe folder you’ve got going on your computer (you do this, right?), sip some tea and get to planning. Planning your meals and sticking to a grocery list means fewer impulse purchases (usually unnecessary conveniences), and as an added benefit, you can look at your diet over the course of a week and make sure it’s balanced. Last, keeping a list is a time management tool as well: not only can you organize your list by where it is at the store, thus have you in and out of the grocery store quicker, but you don’t have to scramble at the last minute to decide what to cook for dinner.

Tip #2 is on the next page

Money Saving Tip #2

Freeze It

Sometimes you’re so slammed by great deals on in-season produce you couldn’t possibly eat it fast enough and this is when a freezer comes in very handy. In addition to fruits and vegetables, freezing herbs, prepared foods like pesto or cookie dough, and high volume meals works as a money-saving, time-saving strategy. Some people even buy an extra freezer for this purpose.

Tip #3 is on the next page

Money Saving Tip #3

Keep Your Cabinets Stocked. Especially When Things Are On Sale

If you have marinara, pasta, olive oil, and spices on hand, it is much less tempting to spend more money ordering in or eating out. There are some things that I always have on hand so I can make a simple but delicious meal: whole grains (like rice and quinoa), vermicelli noodles, tomato sauce, chickpeas, frozen peas and corn, and some long-lasting produce like onions, garlic, ginger and potatoes. Sounds like the makings of a yummy veggie chili to me!

Tip #4 is on the next page

Money Saving Tip #4

Cook Things Early In The Week You Can Use All Week

You can get more out of your groceries and cooking by extending your meals. For example, if you make one big pot of veggie chili, that can be served on baked potatoes, on pasta and more throughout the week. Also, make fried rice, savory pancakes, stir-fries, stews, soups, casseroles, veggie burgers and patties, and more with the leftover odds and ends from previous meals. Also, bread that’s past its prime can easily be transformed into croutons, French toast and breadcrumbs.

This recipe is surprisingly simple and you get a lot of bang for your buck, so to speak. You can check out this recipe on the next page.

I will admit that I was skeptical about covering mashed potatoes with sweet potatoes. It seems odd. Unnatural even. But what if I told you it is actually glorious. What if I told you it’s one of my new favorite recipes? Well it is!

If you think about it, it makes sense. Sweet potatoes have a sweet buttery flavor to them naturally. That is one of the reasons I love them so much. And what do most people like on their mashed potatoes? Butter! Unless you use a vegan butter (which is still not healthy by the way) then you can’t have potatoes covered in butter. But you can have this recipe. And you will be glad you did!

Vegan Grilled Cheese Sandwich And Tomato Soup

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/vegan-grilled-cheese-sandwich-1024x535.png

I ask myself why, as a vegan, I am still drawn to grilled cheese sandwiches? I think it is one of those childhood meals many of is get sentimental attachments too. They are delicious but there is something more going on when I eat a grilled cheese sandwich. I think that may be true for a lot of people.

The problem with being vegan and wanting a grilled cheese sandwich is that most vegan cheese doesn’t melt right. You can buy several good vegan cheese products and they will work great in a lot of recipes and applications. For example, our recipe for the ultimate vegan nacho cheese sauce is incredible! But they never seem to hold up to the ultimate test. The incredibly simple grilled cheese sandwich. Until now.

I found this recipe last week and tried it. It gets my childhood memories seal of approval! You can check out the details on this vegan grilled cheese sandwich on the next page.

I never met anyone who doesn’t love cheesecake! That’s why we are always looking for new vegan cheesecake recipes. We are definitely adding this vegan pumpkin cheesecake to our list of favorites.

We have post some pretty amazing vegan cheesecake recipes in the past. Like this Mixed Berry Cheesecake recipe. Or this Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake recipe. But this is the fist time we have ever posted a cheesecake recipe that was based on pumpkin. And based on how amazing this one is we should have thought of it sooner. Much sooner!

This recipe is rich, creamy, spiced just right, not too sweet and easy to make. And for fall weather and the holidays it would make the perfect dessert. You can get this awesome vegan recipe on the next page.

Hats off to Dana at Minimalist Baker for this amazing vegan creation. I mean, just look at it!

Kung Pao Cauliflower

https://veryveganrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/vegan-kung-pao-cauliflower-1024x535.png

Lately I have been testing a lot of ethnic vegan recipes. I really love Chinese inspired meals and this Kung Pao Cauliflower is a perfect example.

The secret to the traditional King Pao recipe is the Kung Pao sauce. This is true no matter if you are making the omnivore version with chicken or if you are making a vegan version with tofu or cauliflower. The basics of the recipe is always simple. You need the sauce, some vegetables, and a protein. That is why most vegan versions of this dish use tofu. But I like this cauliflower based recipe better. It taste great and is even easier to prepare.
