If you have been vegan for more than 5 minutes you have probably ran into someone who hates you. What is it about the vegan lifestyle that makes people lose their minds?
I was in Walmart buying a bicycle for my nephew a couple of weeks ago and I was wearing one of my vegan shirts. I swear to god this really large woman in a huge dress tapped me on the shoulder and asked “Are you one of them weird people that don’t eat no meat?” I was kind of surprised someone would be so forward with a complete stranger so it made me nervous. I backed away a couple of steps and told her I was a vegan and no, I do not eat meat.
She launched into a tirade about how vegans didn’t respect anyone’s rights and how we broke the law and stole animals from business owners and how little respect we had for other people. My mind was blown! I was minding my own business and she was attacking me, telling me how I didn’t respect anyone. It was pretty scary and I walked away.
This post isn’t meant to be nearly as intense as that encounter was. But it will point out some stupid reasons people like to hate vegans, followed by my response as to why they are wrong. 1. You stupid vegans can’t even enjoy simple things like burgers and fries.
Wrong!

2. Vegans only eat nuts and twigs. There’s no variety
Wrong!
Even raw food vegans have a huge variety of foods to choose from. Between fruit, vegetables, berries, nuts and seeds the food options are endless. And of course for vegans who don’t only eat whole foods, their options are truly mind blowing. Below are just a couple of my favorite vegan meals.

3. Vegans aren’t healthy, they need more protein
Wrong!
The CDC and WHO have both recommended daily protein intake that is MUCH smaller than most Americans get daily. In fact, most Americans get so much animal protein it is slowly killing their kidneys. The truth is that all whole foods like fruits and vegetables have plenty of protein to cover the needs of the human body. But if you want to cook something up that is really loaded with protein you can. And it will be vegan and delicious!

4. Vegans are pitiful creatures lacking in vitamins and minerals. They are weak and pathetic.

5. Vegans always think they are right and they are better than everyone else
Wrong!
Well, actually vegans are better than everyone else in a lot of ways. Let’s consider the water shortage in California right now. If everyone in California were vegan they wouldn’t be having a water shortage.
And then of course there is the entire issue of killing living beings needlessly. Vegans kill zero living beings.
